To Rest, 2025, Linoleum Relief Print, 10’’x10’’
To Rest
This print represents the passage of time through the process of death and decay. Eventually, all living things die and become a part of the earth through decomposition. This process of becoming one with nature after death has always felt oddly comforting to me despite how scary death can seem. With this piece, I wanted to depict a morbid concept in a beautiful and comforting way. The rabbit in the center is slowly being engulfed by the nature around it yet appears to be completely at peace despite the chaos surrounding it. While it wasn’t my original intention to use relief for this project, the process of relief carving ties into the concept of time very well. The process involves slowly chipping away at a medium to receive a final product. It involves lots of time to do well.

Needle and Thread
This piece centers on the dissonance I feel when others view me and see what they believe to be a “finished product”, but on the inside I feel unfinished. There are very few things about myself I am 100% certain on. This shaky sense of identity comes from a poor childhood habit of basing my personality on blending in as much as possible. I spent so much of my life trying to be as inconspicuous as possible that I left very little room for self expression and exploration. This poor habit is ultimately rooted in shame and fear of rejection. The portrait is finished, but isn’t remarkable in any way. Just realistic black and white drawing. The figures surrounding the main portrait represent my unclear sense of identity.
